Learning

At John Ferneley College we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that ensures all our students progress and thrive. Learning takes place in five self-contained zones that support subjects that share common ground. Each zone has the benefit of a dedicated library area, subject specific resources, a central breakout area with IT and learning facilities.

During their time with us, students start by studying a diverse range of subjects that they follow through Years 7 to 9. Towards the end of Year 9, subjects are chosen to study for GCSEs or BTEC in Years 10 and 11. Each student is supported during the making of this important decision.

We believe that learning should be a fun, engaging and rewarding experience for all our students, and the strength of feeling we get from our students, past and present, is testament to the way that we nurture that close bond between teachers and students.
