words of wisdom from Year 7

9 March 2018 · Head Teacher's blog

One of our schools uses ‘Votes for Schools’, it’s a package of work to be used in tutor time, where students are engaged in key debates relevant to modern life. The topic last week was whether modern literature portrays sexists views of men and women. I got to work with a wonderful Year 7 group and my goodness, their views were insightful. When you hear politicians and read newspapers at the moment, I am always shocked by the conflicting, prejudiced and often corrupt messages reported nationally – and internationally. I felt really quite reassured and proud that there is balance, a strong sense of fairness and tolerance thriving in our schools. May our students one day run the country.
