Dear Parent/Guardian,

You will be aware that members of the National Education Union (NEU) have announced dates for Industrial Action. The next date that is likely to affect John Ferneley College is Wednesday 1st March. It is possible that, over half term, something may happen to prevent the strike from taking place, but with half term next week, it is sensible to share our plans now.

Currently, we plan to partially open. John Ferneley College will be open for all students in Year 11, who will be carrying out their mock exam schedule. We will also have provision for vulnerable students and those who have critical worker parents/guardians. John Ferneley College will be closed to all other students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. We recognise the disruption that this is likely to cause families. 

This is our current plan, and we will confirm the final arrangements when we return after half term. Please can we also remind you that further industrial action is also scheduled for Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March.
