Melton Times Junior Sports Personality of the Year Award
A massive congratulations to Libby who won the Melton Times Junior Sports Personality of the Year Award for her achievements in tennis – on and off the court!
Libby has had an extremely busy year with tennis, representing Grantham tennis club. Libby got through to the National Finals in London, captained the 16U girls’ team to win division 1, won 16U and 18U singles, runner up in 16U mixed doubles and runner up in ladies doubles.
When Libby isn’t playing tennis, she is either coaching or volunteering at the club. Libby has just qualified as a Level 1 tennis coach and coaches every Saturday morning. Libby also referees junior tennis tournaments and has had the opportunity to coach Master Classes alongside Boris Becker, Andrew Castle, and Annabelle Croft.
During school, Libby has coached tennis in PE lessons, from planning to delivering them as well as coaching an after-school club and going to matches with them.
Libby is part of Judy Murray’s ‘She Rallies’ and is a trained activator to deliver tennis sessions to girls of all ages and abilities, encouraging more girls into tennis. Libby is part of the #thisgirlcan campaign encouraging girls into Sport.
Libby has been ball crew at the World NEC Wheelchair Championships. Libby has trained and mentored the new ball crew and crewed for the Men’s ATP Challenger Loughborough Trophy.
Libby has a busy summer ahead with teams in County, Regional and National leagues in both ladies and mixed doubles as well as singles tournaments. Libby has also been nominated for the LTA county finals in Lincolnshire later this month.
In September Libby will be going to Loughborough College to study Level 3 Sport also being part of the TASS.
