Health and Social Care

Curriculum Intent Overview

Our Key Stage 4 Health and Social Care curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for further study and future careers. With the health and social care sector being one of the largest in the UK, this course offers a vital foundation for those interested in pursuing careers in this growing field.

Students will explore human development from infancy to old age, studying how life events like illness or parenthood impact individuals. They will also learn about local health and social care services and the support available to overcome barriers.

The curriculum focuses on developing transferable skills such as research, self-evaluation, and empathy. Students will apply these skills through practical scenarios and data analysis, designing care plans to improve health and well-being.

Guest speakers from local and national communities will provide real-world insights, and we aim to raise aspirations by connecting students with local colleges and post-16 pathways.

Our Health and Social Care qualification prepares students for further study, future careers, and making meaningful contributions to society.
