Why train with us?

We are a fast-growing, highly successful 11-16 college, set in Melton Mowbray. Part of the Mowbray Education Trust, there are many opportunities for you not only to train with us, but to begin an exciting career!

Routes into Teaching

We work with a series of different providers which include; the University of Leicester, Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham to support the PGCE programme and the School Direct route into teaching. In addition, we also work with EMTTP and Rushey Mead to support the SCITT and School Direct programme.

The national roll-out of the Early Career Framework started this year, which means ECTs (previously NQTs) are entitled to a two-year induction period which is underpinned by the Early Career Framework. This means, as an ECT, you will have access to a structured programme of support and training. We are currently using the Ambition programme. To find out more, please click here.

If you choose to train with us, you will receive top-quality training in a school environment. At the end of the year, if successful, you will receive Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and be fully qualified to teach!

School Experience Programme

We run this programme so you can experience what it would be like to work at John Ferneley. We work around you, so if you want to experience a day, a week or a month, we will be able to support you. We can also offer travel expenses to assist with you getting here!
