Assessment and School Performance

Tracking data and reporting to parents

Years 7, 8 and 9

You will receive 3 tracking reports for your child over the course of the academic year. The report shows:

Assessment Grade

This is the level of attainment your child is currently working at.

Each subject identifies knowledge and skills that should be acquired by the end of the academic year. A student who achieves this knowledge and skills would be considered “secure”. A student who doesn’t acquire all the knowledge and skills required by the end of the year would be considered “emerging or developing." A student achieving more than the required knowledge and skills by the end of the academic year would be “exceeding or mastering".

Attitude to Learning Grade

The following table and information provides a guide to the attitude to learning grade.

Grades 1 or 2

Students who go beyond the ‘normal’ to a greater or lesser extent.

Grade 3

‘Normal’ students who behave appropriately, do what is asked of them in class, attempt homework etc. for the majority of their time.

Grades 4 or 5

Students who are below average for one of two reasons below:

Grade 4 - Students who have a below average attitude to learning, don’t regularly complete homework or engage with the work in class.

Grade 5 – Students who do not attend lessons regularly enough to meet descriptors 1 - 4.

On / above / below track

This is information that lets you know whether your child is broadly on track, in each subject, to make the expected progress of a student with the ability they had demonstrated when they joined JFC (based upon their KS2 test performance).

The column may be blank for the following reasons:

  • Student did not take the KS2 tests

  • When the student joined JFC the data has not passed across as yet from their previous school (this is more common for students who joined the school mid-way through an academic term)

If the column is blank, we will use in-school assessments, alongside teacher assessment, to populate it.

Years 10 and 11

You will receive 3 tracking reports for your child over the course of Y10 and 2 during Y11. The report shows:

Target Grades

The grades your child is aiming for in each subject, the targets have been generated based on your child’s Key Stage 2 data.

Predicted GCSE Grade

This is the grade your child's teacher thinks they will achieve for their final GCSE if they carry on with the same commitment, attendance, and attitude to learning.

  • We are not able to calculate Progress 8 scores for academic years 2024/25 and 2025/26. This is because there is no KS2 assessment data available to calculate the baseline for Progress 8 for these years due to Covid-19 disruption.

  • Our attainment 8 score in summer 2025 was 43.8.

  • The percentage of pupils achieving a grade 5 or above in English & Maths was 36.4%.

  • The latest national data for the percentage of pupils staying in education or entering apprenticeships or employment is 93%, and is from 2023, which was above the national average.

  • The percentage of pupils entering the English Baccalaureate (EBacc - A pupil is considered to have entered for the English Baccalaureate if they entered for qualifications in English, maths, sciences, a language and either history or geography) is 27.6%.

  • The average EBacc point score is 3.74.
