Computer Science
Curriculum Intent Overview
At Mowbray Education Trust, we recognise the vital role computing plays in today’s world and aim to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to become confident, creative, and responsible users of technology. Our computing curriculum is built around three key strands: computer science, information technology, and digital literacy. Through these, students learn how computer systems work, develop programming skills, and create a range of digital content.
From Key Stage 3 onwards, pupils build strong foundations in computational thinking, problem-solving, and digital creativity. They use a variety of programming languages and software tools, applying their learning to real-world scenarios and projects. This prepares them for further study at Key Stage 4, including GCSE Computer Science or Creative iMedia.
By providing a high-quality computing education, we aim to inspire students to become active participants in the digital age. Our curriculum not only supports academic progression but also opens doors to future careers and empowers pupils from all backgrounds to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
