Geography
Curriculum Intent Overview
At Mowbray Education Trust, we aim to inspire curiosity about the world and equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand their place within it. Our geography curriculum fosters a deep appreciation of diverse places, people, and environments, while developing an understanding of key physical and human processes shaping the Earth.
The curriculum explores physical, human, and environmental geography, examining the interrelationships between the natural world and human activity. Students will gain essential geographical concepts such as sustainability, globalisation, and inequality, alongside technical skills like data analysis, cartography, fieldwork, and communication.
The curriculum progresses from Key Stage 3, where students focus on local to global scales, to the more in-depth Key Stage 4 GCSE content. Topics like sustainability and environmental management prepare students for further studies and informed decision-making.
By the end of their studies, students will be critical, globally engaged citizens, ready to navigate and positively impact an interconnected world. Their understanding of geography will empower them to address global issues and contribute to both local and international communities.
