Curriculum Intent Overview

Our mathematics curriculum at Mowbray Education Trust aims to develop confident, resilient mathematicians who can reason, problem-solve, and apply their knowledge across various contexts. We provide a carefully sequenced learning journey from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4, starting with the fundamentals of number and algebra and advancing to geometry, probability, and statistics.

Through a mastery approach, students make connections between mathematical concepts, applying their knowledge flexibly. The curriculum emphasizes mathematical vocabulary, reasoning, and problem-solving, ensuring that students build a deep and comprehensive understanding.

In Key Stage 3, the focus is on fluency in basic mathematics, with gradual introduction of more complex topics. By Key Stage 4, students apply their knowledge to real-world problems, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for success in further studies and careers.

We aim to empower all pupils to become confident mathematicians, able to tackle challenges with creativity and resilience. Our curriculum nurtures a love of mathematics and its relevance to everyday life, equipping students for future success in education, employment, and decision-making.
